webjavenue.com — Java web development made easier without JSP
Demo Tutorial Resources About

Welcome to WebJavenue!

My name is Bruno Boehr, and I am here to dispel one of the biggest fallacies of the digital era.

For years, Sun has been using its tremendous power to mislead the public into believing that JSP is the only way to do web development in Java — through careful wording of the specs, aggressive marketing and comprehensive support. But there is the other side of the story to be told.

As it turns out, JSP is not the only, and arguably not even the best way to render dynamic pages. Other technologies exist that promote better design practices and result in cleaner web application architectures. If you are stuck midway trying to make a transition from trivial "Hello world" JSP examples to a more functional application, if you find yourself disgusted with the mess of code you've created along the way, this website is for you!

Oh, and if you are not sure where to start, this live demo will give you an idea what kind of website you could get yourself in no time upon completion of our free online tutorial, Your First Website In Java: Easier Than You Think.

A mockup of the home page inspired by this website and an early version of the Live Demo uploaded to the server.

Showcasing the many development techniques and solutions that are discussed in the tutorial and other materials on this website, is this cute little demo application called Puffies. As simple as it seems, it offers quite a bit in terms of functionality, and leverages some cool pieces of technology working en ensemble behind the scenes to make it all happen.
